  • Justin Trout sworn in as Pine Bluffs Police Chief

    Polly Taylor|Jan 15, 2015

A week after the Pine Bluffs Town Council approved the addition of Justin Trout to the police department as the new Chief of Police, he was sworn in by Municipal Judge Mark Moran. The Judge commented, before swearing the new chief in, that while he is grateful to have individuals such as the new chief on the streets protecting residents and the community, he finds it difficult to imagine how, after a day of rescuing cats from trees, making arrests and handling car accidents, a police officer...

    Polly Taylor|Jan 15, 2015

The Missoula Children's Theatre, along with a cast of students from Pine Bluffs Elementary, staged two performances of The Wizard of Oz Saturday afternoon, at the Pine Bluffs High School Commons. While there was much improvisation of special effects, and side humor, not included in the original production, it was evident that the students, their parents, and other members of the audience enjoyed the performance. The Scarecrow couldn't make up his mind which direction Dorothy should go to reach...

  • High winds in the news; Wyomingite solves Kennewick skeleton mystery

    Bill Sniffin|Jan 15, 2015

We all know that Wyoming is the windiest state in the union but gusts recorded back on Jan. 5 raised some eyebrows. They were so severe, U. S. Sen. Mike Enzi even posted some of them on his Facebook page. If you are unlucky enough to live in Clark near Cody, you endured winds of 113 mph. What is surprising is that Clark only has an elevation of 4,659 feet. Muddy Gap, which straddles Carbon, Natrona and Fremont Counties, saw winds of 88 mph.  Hiland between Shoshoni and Casper recorded 82 mph. ...

  • Lady Hornets topple Tongue River in overtime

    Patrick Cossel|Jan 15, 2015

It's the type of shot players dream about. The one when they are in the gym by themselves and they imagine making that clutch shot - one second left on the clock, the team is down by one, the shot is fired, it hits the rim and rolls around before falling in. The crowd goes wild as the team wins the game. Only in this case it wasn't the game winning shot, but it was close enough. The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets traveled to the Dayton/Big Horn area this week to play in the Winter Classic hosted by...

    Barb Cross|Jan 15, 2015

Good morning! With school back in session we are off and running once again. If you were at the basketball game last Friday, you watched an excellent varsity boys game against Hay Springs. One of those where we won in overtime and had me standing in my seat. All other games were great too, but that one was exciting! I know I spend a lot of time here talking about school events, but most of you would agree that that is where most of us spend our time – one of the constants in our lives. Our...

  • Albin News

    Charlene Smith|Jan 15, 2015

You may not be thinking about sprinkler systems yet, or even water that is not in the form of snow. However, sprinkler systems are top on the minds of our council and mayor. The addition has come to a standstill, stuck until they figure out the problem. But just as sure as the snow will eventually melt, the community center addition will get done. It will be a nice complement to an already nice facility we have in Albin. The first home game for the Albin Wildcats will be Jan. 24 starting at 9...

I’ve been looking over the agenda for this year’s conference and I’m intrigued by the lineup of speakers for this year’s conference. I will be part...
