    Gary Collins, Pine Bluffs Post|Jul 13, 2017

Faith and family, first responders, Papa Dean, Bill Johnson and others were heralded as Hometown Heroes during the 89th Annual Albin Day parade. Johnson, who was recognized by Nick Dennis and his family, made the move to Albin on December 7, 1941 while the Japanese were busy with their sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. The day began with a pancake breakfast at the Firehouse served by the Burns FFA. Afterwards, more than 500 people lined Cheyenne Ave. to watch the Kiddie and Adult parades. Grand...

  • The library is the place to bee

    Gary Collins, Pine Bluffs Post|Jul 13, 2017

If you are ever stung by a bee, you can be sure it is not a male bee, or drone, as they do not have stingers and their only purpose is to mate with the queen before being kicked out of the hive. The worker bees of a hive are all females. The workers role is to collect food and water, care for the larvae and to protect the hive. They are the ones with the stingers. The sole queen of the hive's only job is to lay eggs and rule over the hive. Such is the information you might have picked up if you...

  • Counting every step while walking through Cowboy State in summer

    Bill Sniffin|Jul 13, 2017

Is there a better place in the world for a morning walk than a nice path in Wyoming? Especially quite early in the morning. This time of year, you can actually start walking about 5:30 a.m. but you might need a layered approach with a sweatshirt over your tee shirt. Most Wyoming cities and towns have wonderful walking paths. Cheyenne has done an amazing job. Greybull has a superb walking path. Sheridan. Lander, Casper and Worland are into providing spaces for walkers. Evanston has transformed...

The order also directs the BLM to look for solutions to improve access to additional parcels of federal land that are appropriate for...

    Sen. Mike Enzi|Jul 13, 2017

The Senate health care bill would make a bad situation better, according to U.S. Senator Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.). Enzi told reporters the bill would make initial improvements and allow states to make even more. He said budget rules prevent some proposals from being considered now, but work on health care will continue in the Senate. Below are key excerpts of the interview: On content of the bill: “There are always a number of things; I’ve been working on this for a number of years and had my own ten step health plan. • Burns town council addresses liquor ordinance; other town business

    Gary Collins, Pine Bluffs Post|Jul 13, 2017

Responding to constituent complaints received during the town election this spring, Councilwoman Judy Johnstone proposed an avenue to address those complaints. Apparently, there are residents of Burns who feel that the governing body does not do enough to inform citizens of actions taken by the council. She proposed, and the council and mayor agreed by consent, that a paragraph or two advising residents of council actions would be added to the monthly utility bills. Johnstone volunteered to write those notices. In other council action it was...

Good morning Banner County, friends both near and far. With all of this hot weather we have been having, cool calm mornings are sure nice, don’t you agree? One night this past week it was still 77 at nine p.m. so I have been enjoying the early morning more than usual. • Albin News

    Charlene Smith|Jul 13, 2017

We could print the news about Albin every day, and you still wouldn’t get the true sense of the community. Communities are built on the idiosyncrasies of the people living there. Even if we tell you about a young boy turning another year older, you don’t appreciate the love for him until you see folks hug him and laugh at his precious little ways that are missed when he is away with his mother. We can write about an elderly couples anniversary, but you cannot see in the print their lawn fil...
