  • Pine Bluffs residence falls victim to burglary

    Once again burglary, and not just attempted this time. This is the second attempt at burglary in Pine Bluffs in as many months. According to Pine Bluffs Chief of Police Justin Trout, a residence in the north area of Pine Bluffs was burglarized Saturday, Oct. 24, at approximately 10 a.m. Items were taken, including two firearms.     Confidence is growing that widespread snow and strong winds are going to occur across southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle Tuesday night into Wednesday. A cold front will move through Tuesday afternoon with very cold temperatures behind the front.     According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation, confidence is increasing for the first widespread snowfall of the season across southeast Wyoming. A mix of rain and snow will most likely begin Wednesday morning over Carbon county, and in the afternoon along the east of the Laramie Range, and continue into Thursday morning.     Charles W. Binning, 94, of Pine Bluffs, passed away at his home Monday morning, Oct. 26, 2015. Mr. Binning was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Earlville, Iowa, a son of the late Albert L. and Edythe M. (Hunt) Binning. Charles served in the United States Army during World War II as a 1st Lt. in the 325th Glider Infantry 82nd Airborne Division.     Marilyn Ann Williams, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 17, 2015, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Ga. She succumbed to injuries she suffered as a result of a fall she endured on Sept. 30, 2015. Marilyn was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada on Nov. 21, 1947, to Rev. Herbert and Elsa (Goebel) Miller, and was the youngest of three children. In 1965, Marilyn graduated from Pine Bluffs High School, in Pine Bluffs.   • County test of Emergency Outdoor Warning System scheduled

    The Cheyenne/Laramie County Emergency Management Agency will be testing the Outdoor Warning Siren system promptly at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 6 for Pine Bluffs. The warning system will sound a steady signal for a period of one to three minutes. During an actual emergency, when residents hear the sirens they should take cover immediately and tune into a local radio or television station to receive additional emergency information.     The hunting season is in full swing and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department is again offering to help hunters who want to know the age of a harvested animal. This is done by looking at a tooth from the animal. Tooth Aging Coordinator Miranda DeSmith, with the Wyoming Game and Fish Wildlife Forensic and Fish Health Laboratory, has received the first shipment of harvested elk, moose and deer teeth for aging already.
