Area youth ages 12-18 are invited to take part in a one day, free, sports camp to be held July 18, at Pawnee School in Grover, Colo.
This one of a kind camp will be staffed by Athletes in Action. Athletes in Action is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International, a worldwide Christian evangelism and discipleship organization. It was founded to build on society’s great love of sports and utilize the platform given to athletes to reach the world for Jesus Christ.
Taylor Hargrove, an international team leader and project coordinator with AIA, will be the camp director for the Grover event. As an AIA project coordinator and camp director, he organizes sport camps around the world. Hargrove is a Colorado native, who played baseball while attending Nyack College in New York. He was drafted by the New York Mets and played professional baseball for four years before sustaining a career-ending knee injury. Upon his return to Colorado, he coached baseball at Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver.
Hargrove will bring a team of AIA coaches and several collegiate athletes to Grover to help the youth. The purpose of the camp is to provide practical coaching to improve the skills, abilities, and understanding of junior high and high school athletes in their respective sports and to help them know how to know and experience God’s love and plan for their lives.
The sports offered for both girls and boys are basketball, football, volleyball, and baseball. The day will consist of three sessions beginning at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided and once again the cost of the one day camp is nothing.
Pre-registration is required and forms may be obtained by calling Pastor King Smith at 970-895-3203 or Tanya Wahlert at 970-895-2350.
