37th annual Mini Fair celebrates

The 37th Annual LaGrange Mini Fair is set for Saturday with events scheduled from 7 a.m. to midnight.

The town of LaGrange leads the way with its sponsoring of breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. A free will donation will be accepted.

Two parades follow the early morning feast. At 9:30 a.m. is the pet parade sponsored by the American Legion. At 10 a.m. is the big parade sponsored by LaGrange Volunteer Fire Department Marshals for the parade are Monte and Polly Hopkins. Immediately following the big parade will be foot and bike races also sponsored by the American Legion.

Lunch sponsored by Frontier School of the Bible will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Registration for the Gymkhana for kids 14 and under begins at 11 a.m. with events beginning at noon. The timed games for riders on horses includes barrels, poles, flags, boot race and some non-horse events. All-Around buckles will be awarded.

Following the Gymkhana will be open barrel racing and mini bull riding (for ages 10 and under), which will be followed by at stick horse race. Championship buckles will be awarded.

Local and neighboring businesses offer a chance to cool someone off with the sponsoring of a dunk tank which will be open from noon to 6:30 p.m.

Some new races have been added to the list of activities this year. Taking place from 12:30 to 1 p.m. the egg toss, potato sack and three-legged races should be fun to watch and take part in.

Those looking for some spending cash should check out the money hunt that begins at 1 p.m.

Jay and Carolyn Ward are sponsoring a build-your-own stick horse event. Entry is free and limited to the first 40 people. Supplies are included.

A water gun course will be a good way to cool off during the afternoon. Open from 1:30 to 5 p.m., participants will pay a quarter to stay in the course until their gun runs out of water.

The dinner bell will ring from 5 to 7 p.m at a barbecue served by the Bear Creek Guys and Gals 4-H club. Tickets for the meal will be sold at the door.

The evenings entertainment begins at 6:30 with a concert by the Stovall Family. At 8 p.m. the Ranch Rodeo is slated to begin. From 9 to midnight a street dance will be held with music provided by Rock on Wheels.

Gate fees for the afternoon events are $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 5 to 14. For the evening events, adults are $6 and children ages 5 to 14 are $5.

Mini Fair buttons — good for all arena events — are $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 14.
