The Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame recently named Ashley Fornstrom as "Wyoming Athlete of the Year." Fornstrom received her award Saturday in Casper.

Fronstrom received awards in volleyball, track and basketball while in high school and recently ended her career as setter for the Colorado State University Rams volleyball team.

Her sister, Brittany, also a former college volleyball player, introduced Fornstrom for the hall of fame ceremony.

Other friends and relatives attending the event were her parents, Jeff and Sonja Fornstrom of Pine Bluffs and Salli and Jim Portz of Cheyenne; grandparents, Chuck and Charlotte Carlson of Eaton, Colo. and Melvin and Lois Fornstrom of Pine Bluffs. Also attending were Steve, Karen, Jaiden, Jesse and Johnna Fornstrom; Stuart, Katt, Melissa and Doug Fornstrom; Tisa, Matt and Emily Haas; Jessica Marquart and Tevis Sherman.

Other honorees were Nick Bebout, football; Ray Sanchez, wrestling; Marvin Garrett, rodeo and wrestling; Jerry Fullmer, coaching; and Tracy Ringolsby, sports writer and broadcasting.
