The 21 state contestants at the 2009 Make it With Wool contest, sponsored by the Wyoming Wool Growers Auxiliary and held Dec. 7, were the top picks from among 85 participants across Wyoming.
Those 85 Wyoming entries sewed 460 yards of wool to create their garments entered at the district level.
"All told, these creative seamstresses spent approximately 8,212 hours putting together their ensembles," says WWGA president Thea Nuckolls.
The winner of each of the three divisions took home two-and-a-half yards of wool fabric and the junior and senior winners received an expense-paid trip to the national competition in Nashville, Tenn. in January.
Bess Johnson of Casper won the adult division, while Nicole Macy of Pine Bluffs won the senior division and Jacee Jinks of Yoder took first in the junior division.
Johnson will send her garment and photos to Tennessee to be judged, and if she’s selected national winner she will also travel to Nashville.
