Lady Broncs roll over weekend opponents

The Burns Lady Broncs came back from the holiday break with hot hands, rolling over Guernsey by a score of 61-20 on Thursday and Chugwater, 46-24 on Friday.

"We shot the ball really well and played solid on defense," coach Barry Ward said of the (no) contest with Guernsey.

As a team the Lady Broncs recorded 24 steals and 21 assists.

Individual standouts were Alex Ward with 16 points, five assists and five steals; Bailey Ward at 17 points and four assists; Jordan Hirsig with 11 points and eight steals and Michelle Bastian with four points, six rebounds, three steals and four assists.

"We got a lot out of this game and ran a lot of different stuff," coach Ward said of the Lady Broncs face-off with Chugwater. "I was proud of the kids’ effort in the second half."

Alex Ward topped the leader board on points with 14, adding seven assists and three steals to the effort. Bastian launched in eight and came away with 11 rebounds. Hirsig added 10 points and nabbed four steals.

The 6-2 Lady Broncs head out on the road Friday to face Southeast, before returning to their home court to host Wright on Saturday. On Jan. 21 they will play host to Merino.
