In an otherwise quick meeting, police commissioner and councilmember Mark Fornstrom announced during Monday’s regular session of the Pine Bluffs Town Council the Pine Bluffs Police Department was still coming up empty handed in their search to replace outgoing Police Chief Tom Mohren.

"We’re continuing to advertise for the positions but unfortunately we still haven’t had any takers on the jobs," Fornstrom said.

In other business, town treasurer Cate Cundall reported town utility receipts were down 5 percent over last year but expenses were down by the same amount for a net-zero effect.

Before council were residents John and Dianne Wise seeking waiver of fees to use the community center for two gun show hosted by the Pine Bluffs Sportsmen club one in April, the other, fall date, to be confirmed later.

"We like to see if it would be okay with council if we could use the community center during Trail Days this year for our fall gun show," Dianne Wise said.

Members of council pointed out that typically the Trail Days committee reserved the community center for their pancake feed and church service.

Wise noted the potential for increased traffic at the gun show if held during the town’s Trail Days celebration.

"Why don’t we go ahead and vote on waiving the fees for the April gun show and then John, Dianne, if you could work with the Trail Days committee to see if something can be worked out, we’ll consider it then," said Mayor Bill Shain.

Unanimously, the town approved the Wise’s request to use the community center and waive the fees for the April gun show.

Council also unanimously voted to have Leonard Anderson continue to serve as the town’s representative at the Wyoming Municipal Power Agency. The WMPA is a cooperative effort of eight Wyoming municipalities to generate and transmit electric power to their residents.

Council also approved a resolution reaffirming their participation in Wyoming’s Surplus Property program and granted a request by Pine Bowl for extended liquor sales hours on Feb. 28 and March 7.

The next regular meeting of the Pine Bluffs Town Council is slated for 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1.
