A coal shed is being erected in the rear of the bank building.
Frank Sinon and Dave Warner gave a very pleasant dancing party Monday night.
Two drunks and disorderlies appeared before Judge Mann this week and paid their fines.
S. H. Birdsall is giving music lessons in the Pine Bluffs school and teachers and pupils are taking much interest in the work.
Leonard Smith this week repaired the bridge across the Muddy just west of town by order of the county commissioners.
In our market report barley has been quoted at 80c per bushel when it should have been 80c per hundred. We have corrected the market report this week and hope to give correct prices hereafter.
The contract has been awarded to William McCarty for the construction of a cement jail 16x20 feet to be erected at once.
It is about time the town council should get busy on street improvements for the coming spring and summer. Crossings should be put in at several places, the streets graded up so that the water can run off instead of standing in the middle of the streets.
Monday night fire was discovered in the big manure pile in the rear of P.A. Johnson’s fine barn just west of the Wyoming Lumber & Coal Company’s yards. C. W. Johnson and a number of assistants gathered at the scene of action and after a few hours hard work succeeded in subduing the blaze. What might have been a serious fire was nipped in the bud and the big new barn and probably other buildings were saved from the blaze.

Harry Eskell "Jackie" King was killed when the automobile driven by his mother skidded off the icy pavement on the Torrington highway, 11 miles north of Cheyenne about 9 a.m. Saturday and turned over as Mrs. Maude King attempted to bring it back on the road. He was 13 years old.
Charles W. Neal, one time resident of Potter and a former Colorado prison inmate, pleaded not guilty to Cripple Creek Tuesday to a charge of murdering Ida Hansen, Columbus, Neb., milliner. The trial is set for March 18.
Herman Bogie sold one of the finest bunches of cattle the first of last week that has ever been sold from this district.
A bill authorizing the state board of game and fish commissioners to borrow a maximum of $75,000 from the federal government for the construction of a fish hatchery in the Blue Hole springs area in Fremont county was signed Friday by Governor Miller.
Three residents of Kimball who couldn’t decide where they wanted to go Thursday night at Scottsbluff found themselves in police court, fined $10 and costs each on charges of intoxication by Beach Coleman, police magistrate.
Funeral services were held for Rev. Father J.T. Nicholson.
Dr. A. R. Everett Saturday was ordered by the district court not to practice medicine within 50 miles of Kimball for the next two years, as the result of a contract which he had signed. The ruling was made by District Judge Tewell in the suit of Dr. P. C. Mockett to prevent his former partner from practicing in Kimball.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Volz of Cheyenne celebrate 50 years of marriage.
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Ellen Morrison, Clarence Wynne, Mrs. Ida A. Doran, Floyd E. Morgan and Frank Trompke.
Kevin Reher, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Reher, is in Memorial hospital at Cheyenne receiving treatment for a broken collar bone received Monday night when he was trying to rope a horse at the Dale Birt place.
New arrivals -- Mr. and Mrs. Loree D. Kensinger of Cheyenne are parents of a son. A daughter weighing 8 lbs., 11 1/4 oz. was born in Cheyenne to Mr. and Mrs. William Moore of Albin. A daughter was born at DePaul hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Person of Albin.
Pine Bluffs squelched a torrid Blendo rally in the final minutes to pick up a 50-47 Texas Trail conference win at Glendo Saturday.
The DAR citizenship award of the Grover high school has been given to Peggy Pierce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Peirce of Grover.
A large two-story house on the former Mrs. Alice Fullbright place, about six miles northwest of Burns, was destroyed by fire Tuesday evening in a blaze which started at about 5:30. Defective wiring on a porch was blamed for starting the fire, it was reported.

Fire trucks from Carpenter, Cheyenne, Burns, Hillsdale and Pine Bluffs responded to a fire in Carpenter about 4:30 Sunday morning when fire of undetermined origin gutted the Evans Implement Company, but fire fighters were credited with suppressing explosions of three fuel-filled tank trucks and two gasoline pumps.
Funeral services were held for Ruby J. Schoene, Arthur Steer and Sean David Smith.
An architect firm was selected to evaluate and review district facility needs by the full Board of Trustees of School District No. 2 at its regular monthly meeting Monday evening at the District Administration Building. The Board unanimously approved the superintendent’s request that all principals be re-hired.

This catchy Latin phrase meaning " I Came, I Saw, I Conquered," was originally spoken by Julius Caesar at the conclusion of the Pontiac campaign, but could also have been the battle cry of the Albin Wildcats who went to Casper, saw the competition and conquered them to win the Class 1A Basketball Tournament last weekend.
The Pine Bluffs Elementary Basketball team finished their season last Saturday with a Purple/Gold scrimmage. The Gold team came out on top of the 6-quarter game by a score of 39-31.
The Albin Lady Wildcats hosted the Pine Bluffs Lady Hornet JV’s Monday evening and lost a close match 39-35.

New arrivals — Stacy and Randy Cloud of Cheyenne are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Meganne Alexia. Vernon and Suzanne (Baer) Zook announce the birth of their son, Walter Darius.
The Historic Pine Bluffs High School was the site for the 2000 Southeast Wyoming District Future Farmers of America Speech Contest held Tuesday. Top competitors in FFA Creed Presentation, Extemporaneous and Prepared Speeches competed from the Albin, Burns, Cheyenne and Pine Bluffs Chapters.
Burns and Pine Bluffs high school wrestlers will be on the mats at Lingle for the Wyoming East Regionals this Friday and Saturday. The top eight finishers in fourteen weight divisions will qualify for the state tournament in Casper next weekend.
The Burns girls came up with a 57-48 road victory over Guernsey on Friday night. The Albin Lady Wildcats again won against the Lady Cyclones of Southeast by a score of 57-53.
One Friday night, the Lady Hornets took on the Lady Coyotes in Pine Bluffs in a non-conference match-up. The Lady Hornets came up with a win 43-37.
Avenging an earlier loss to Lusk in January, the Lady Hornets amassed a 12-point lead late in the fourth quarter to win 54-36 Saturday afternoon.
Against Fleming, the Lady Falcons won 4-26 at NJC in Sterling.
