Pine Bluffs police officer Richard Hillhouse and drug dog, Czar harvested these drugs and accompanying paraphernalia

Two traffics stops in Pine Bluffs garnered over a pound of marijuana and drug paraphernalia Friday afternoon.

Pine Bluffs police officer Richard Hillhouse, with assistance from Deputy Dwain Murdoch from the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office and Patrolman Brad McConnell of the Wyoming Highway Patrol, took $400 worth of marijuana off the streets early Friday afternoon.

Hillhouse said he made a traffic stop at 6th Street and U.S. 30 when he observed a speeding pickup truck. The driver and passenger, both students from Arizona, displayed several signs of nervousness. Canine officer, Czar, alerted to narcotics being present. Hillhouse asked the driver if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and was told to talk to the passenger, who handed Hillhouse a glass container. Hillhouse then asked if there were any more drugs in the vehicle and the passenger produced a container with marijuana inside. Both the driver and passenger were cited. They posted bond and were released.

A second stop later in the afternoon ended in the arrest of a Kimball, Neb. man for felony drug possession.

Hillhouse made a traffic stop on U.S. 30 for a broken windshield and failure to maintain a single lane of travel. During the stop, he noticed some indication of possession of narcotics. While waiting for dispatch to respond with information on the driver's license, he deployed Czar who alerted to an odor of narcotics at the back half of the vehicle.

Seeking information from the driver and passenger regarding the positive response from Czar, both admitted to being in possession. The passenger had a few grams of marijuana and a pipe. The driver was in possession of 14.42 oz. of marijuana, two pipes, two bongs and a box of Quick Fix (a pre-mixed synthetic urine used to pass drug tests).

The passenger was cited for a misdemeanor, while the driver was arrested and later transported to the Laramie County jail pending a court appearance. The Kimball County Sheriff's Office also assisted in the search at the second stop.
