100 Years Ago

The town dads are having a line of hitching posts put in on Front street north of the Gotte corner.

John P. Fratzen, a prominent attorney of Dubuque, Iowa, was here looking over his land Wednesday.

J. S. Moor, manager of the Pine Bluffs Elevator company, was at Burns Wednesday and Thursday buying grain.

Pete Lautenschlager of Davenport, Nebraska, was here Monday and Tuesday and purchased a half section of land from C. L. Beatty.

Work will commence on a public hall 50x80 feet next Monday. Our fellow townsmen T. F. Rutledge is the promoter of this new undertaking.

The Pine Bluffs Lumber & Supply Company have moved their wagon scales from in front of the store to a position on the north side of the building.

Chas. Paullin, living about six miles north of town had two horses killed by lightning, the bolt going through the roof of the barn, killing them instantly.

The small child of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Rich died Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock, at the home of the parents southwest of town.

While opening a gate neat the Wymer place northwest of town yesterday morning E. T. Hopkins was struck at by a good sized Rattler. He is now in possession of seven rattles as a trophy of the encounter.

75 Years Ago

Frank S. Cooney arrived home Sunday morning from Omaha, where he was called a few days ago on account of the death of a niece.

There will be no state fair held this year.

After being closed for the past two months the Pastime Theatre will again be open Friday evening.

J. Earl Thayer, prominent druggist of Potter passed away Saturday from pneumonia.

Pine Bluffs is soon to have a wading pool for the small children of the city. When completed it will be about 25 feet wide and 40 feet long. It is being built at the north side of the city park.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pierce spent the week-end in the mountains.

V. D. Pierce had been quite sick with tonsilitis.

Mrs. Lee Berryman and two sons, spent the past week in Kimball helping with her mother who has been quite sick.

50 Years Ago

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Reher of Pine Bluffs are parents of a daughter, Patricia Joyce born Aug. 16 at the Kimball hospital.

Memorial services were held for A. G. Hauserman, 82.

Raymond Adels, 17 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Adels of Pine Bluffs driving a 1960 Dodge Dart, missed a turn when he came over a hill and went into a ditch 10 miles south and a mile east of Pine Bluffs Friday evening. There were no serious injuries.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Yetter of LaGrange are parents of a son born Aug. 11.

Mrs. Josephine Callwell had the splint removed from her wrist Friday.

Mrs. Gene Zimmerman and Mrs. Wallace Judy attended a cosmetic convention in Denver last week.

Jay C. Berry attended the official board meeting at the Methodist church Sunday evening, and Mrs. Berry called on Mrs. Lins Shenefelt.

Owen Goertz was a weekend guest of Reed and Arnold Keslar.

25 Years Ago

Memorial services were held for Margaret A. Strube, 61, of Pine Bluffs.

The re-surfacing of the Pine Bluffs Airport runway will start Friday.

Memorial services were held for Richard F. Behrends, 36, of Stockton, Calif.

The Pine Bluffs swimming pool will close for the season at the end of the day this Friday, August 23.

Groathouse Construction of Laramie was the low bidder for the construction of a new maintenance building in Pine Bluffs for the Wyoming Highway Department.

Mrs. Maude Warner of Denver celebrated her 100th birthday August 16.

The Firemen’s picnic was held in Hammond Park in Bushnell on Friday evening and was very well attended.

Mark and Daughn Eisman of Kenai, Alaska are the proud parents of a baby girl, Samantha Rae, born August 11.

10 Years Ago

Andy and Stacy Malm of Albin are the proud parents of a son, Kaden Brice on August 1.

A cement truck, belonging to the Pine Bluffs Gravel and Excavating, was totaled in a one vehicle accident, Wednesday August 9. No one was seriously injured.

Memorial services for Brandon Lee Brenner, 8, of Alliance, Nebraska were held.

Todd and Wynema Thompson of Pine Bluffs are the proud parents of a daughter, Paige Madison, on Sunday, August 6.

Memorial services were held for Laura A. Helms, 89, of Greeley.

Mrs. John Borelli suffered a broken nose when she attempted to open or shut a gate when part of it struck her in the face.

Mrs. Don Mathis underwent surgery Friday in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Next Tuesday area voters will be asked to cast their votes in the primary election at their respective polls.
