Lady Hornets split weekend contests

The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets split their weekend games, losing to Kimball on Friday 51-46 and winning 42-26 over Lusk.
“Christmas break took its toll on our rhythm and conditioning,” said coach Bob Cochran. “Kimball played their game better than we played our game. They were more aggressive. We didn’t play at the same level that we had reached before Christmas. Our shooting was below our normal average and we didn’t get enough shots.”
Kodi Ragsdale scored 16 of the Lady Hornets’ 46 points versus Kimball. Conner Graves put in eight and went a perfect four of four from the free throw line. Jaden Ragsdale was also 100 percent from the charity stripe hitting two of two.
Cochran noted the Lady Hornets’ defensive game was better Saturday than on Friday.
“We had periods that our offense was more in sync,” Cochran said. “I thought that we rebounded better against Lusk, which gave us more shooting opportunities. Our shooting touch was still not at our best.” “It was a good conference win,” Cochran added. “Lusk is a very much improved team and we had to step up our game.”
Graves took the high scorer honors against Lusk with 15. Following close behind was Laura Gross with 13. Each member of the team moved in to grab rebounds, with Gross coming away with the most with nine.
“This week we go to Pawnee, which is a very good team, and play host to conference foe Southeast,” Cochran said. “We need to improve this week and get back into our play that we had before Christmas.”
The game at Pawnee is set for Friday. The Lady Hornets will welcome Southeast on Saturday.
