The Burns Lady Broncs came out strong from Christmas break, putting up a 67-37 win over Saratoga on Friday and losing a close 49-43 outing to Lingle-Fort Laramie.
“The kids are continuing to get better but our size and experience really showed this week,” said Burns coach Barry Ward.
In Fridays contest in Saratoga, Bailey Ward led the charge putting 21 points on the board and scored a double-double by grabbing 14 boards. She came away with three steals, two assists and was 75 percent at the charity stripe finding the bucket three of four tries.
Mckenzie Ward and Megan Marker also turned in double-digit performances adding 13 and 10 points respectively to Bailey’s efforts. Marker also led the team in steals, snagging the ball six times. Mckenzie Ward had five takeaways.
While Lingle outscored Burns 14-9 in the opening quarter of Saturdays game, the Lady Broncs stepped up the pressure for the remaining three cantos. Connecting for seven to Lingle’s eight points brought the score to 22-16, with Lingle leading at the half. Lingle topped Burns by two points in each of the remaining periods to secure the win.
