The Pawnee ladies went on the road to bring home two wins last week, beating Briggsdale, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, and defeating the Weldon Valley Lady Warriors on Friday, 54-33.

It was a relatively slow start for the strong Pawnee team in Briggsdale. Scoring 10 points in each of the first two quarters, they trailed by two heading into the locker room at the half, 22-20.

“We struggled to score early in the game during the first half,” said coach Laura Hodgson. “After half time, we came out and shot much better and played tough defense to grasp the win.”

The Lady Coyotes returned to the court fiercely outscoring Briggsdale 23-7 in the third quarter. A 10-8 fourth quarter had the ladies climbing on the bus winners at the end of the night. The overall score was 53-37.

Adele Cass led the team in points with 16. Tasha Timm and Kaylie Hahn were not far behind her with 13 and 12. Cass had a double-double on the evening leading in rebounds as well with 11 total. Timm again took second grabbing nine rebounds. Kaeley Malcom shined with steals, taking the ball away six times.

Facing the Lady Warriors in Weldon Valley, Pawnee outscored the home team in the first three quarters, 15-2, 16-6, and 15-9, to build their unsurmountable lead. The Lady Warriors battled back in the fourth earning 16 points to Pawnee’s eight. Again, the bus was loaded with a winning girls team after the 54-33 bout.

Commanding the court in points was Lyndee Johnston with 12, who added seven rebounds and three steals. Hahn took a double-double for the night contributing 10 points and 10 rebounds. Malcom put up eight points, gained five rebounds and took four steals.

The 11-0 Lady Coyotes will travel to Fleming on Friday and host Peetz Saturday.
