Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Cox

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Cox, 94, passed away on June 21, 2016 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado.

She was born to Thomas and Elizabeth Walker in Chicago, Illinois on November 19, 1921.

As a young girl, Betty studied dance and was an accomplished rider.  She participated in several one- hundred mile endurance rides, and always brought her horse back, in good condition.  At age 19, she married Wyoming rancher Mark T. Cox III who shared her love of horses.  Together they raised registered Black Angus cattle and thoroughbred horses at the Wyoming Angus Ranch west of Cheyenne and the Eagle Rock Ranch in northern Colorado.

Mark and Betty traveled all over the world, volunteered at Cheyenne Frontier Days, and were active in Republican politics.  During the Reagan Administrations, the Cox's were frequent visitors at the White House and at President Reagan's ranch in California.

Betty is survived by her four children, Mark T. Cox IV (Emily) of Richmond, Virginia; Beverly Black (Gordon) of Grover, Colorado; William S. Cox of Cheyenne; and Thomas W. Cox of Big Pine Key, Florida.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.

Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

A private family interment will take place at the Wyoming Angus Ranch.
