Free Alzheimer's Workshop

The Wyoming chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is presenting a free workshop on Advanced Decisions and Planning for the Future. The workshop will take place this Sunday, October 15, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Laramie County Library. The library is located at 2200 Pioneer Avenue in Cheyenne.

As we age, many of us will experience diminished capacity, perhaps from Alzheimer's or another dementia. This workshop will help participants understand the legal ramifications of diminished capacity, and examine legal tools like effective powers of attorney and advance directives to maintain control and ensure our wishes are honored.

The workshop presenter is Kelly S. Davis, a well-respected, locally-based elder law attorney. Davis is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He served on the Governor's Task Force on Elder and Vulnerable Adults and was instrumental in the adoption of the new Uniform Power of Attorney Act in Wyoming in 2017. He is a frequent presenter on topics of proper estate planning techniques for seniors, keeping the staggering cost of long-term care from consuming a family's wealth, Medicaid planning, and working with persons with diminished capacity.

The program is free and appropriate for the general public. Everyone is welcome. For more information, please contact the Alzheimer's Association-Wyoming Chapter at 307-316-2892, x. 8295.
