Burns Tournament

The Burns Broncs played hard during last weeks tournament at Lusk. The Broncs played a total of 3 games in the Lusk Tournament.

During the game against Greybull the Broncs lost 36 to 42. In the 1st period Greybull pulled ahead 12 to 5. By the 2nd period, Greybull had continued to pull ahead with a score 23 to 15. 3rd period started a tough battle for the win. The Broncs ended the 3rd period with 29 points while Greybull had 31 points. Finally, in the 4th period Greybull took home the win with a total score of 42 to 36.

The team leader for this game was #22 Tyler Norris with a total of 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 turnover. Following close behind was #4 Wyatt Ebben with 7 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 turnover, and 3 deflects. Next was #1 Aiden Carroll with 5 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 2 defects, and 5 turnovers.

The second game of the tournament the Broncs went up against Thunder Basin. With a final score of 53 to 48, the Broncs won the game. The Broncs finished the 1st period with a close score of 6 to 7 putting Thunder Basin in the lead. The 2nd period was a tough battle as well. Thunder Basin scored 12 more points, while the Broncs only scored 7 points. Leaving the score at 19 to 13 for the end of the 2nd period. The Broncs finally started to pull ahead in the 3rd period. With a total of 35 points the Broncs continued into the 4th period where they managed to score 18 more points bringing the final score to 53 to 48.

The game leaders during this difficult battle were #4 Wyatt Ebben with 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 turnovers. Next, was #22 Tyler Norris with a total of 15 points, 1 assist, 2 deflects, and 3 turnovers. Finally, was #2 Jack Ickes with 10 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 deflect, and 2 turnovers.

The final game of the tournament was a hard battle against the Cheyenne Bison. In the 1st period the Broncs scored 8 points, while the Bison had a total of 19 points. During the second period the Bison gained another 14 points, and the Broncs 17 points putting the score at 33 to 25. The next period almost brought the score to an even race. The Broncs brought their score to 39 vs Cheyennes Bison's 42.

The team leaders of this game were 32 Jack Ickes with 14 points, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 deflect, and 1 turnover. The second team leader was #22 Tyler Norris with 10 points, 1 assist and 5 turnovers. Finally was #4 Wyatt Ebben with 8 points, and 1 turnover.

Bringing the tournament to an end the Broncs had a record of 1 win and 2 losses. “All three of our games were down to the wire. We gained some late game experience that will be valuable as we move through the season. Over Christmas break we need to work on getting off to stronger starts. In all of our games in Lusk we dug ourselves an early hole in the first quarter. We are proud of the resiliency this group is showing to fight back and give us a chance in the fourth quarter.” said Sean Patterson, the Burns boys basketball Coach.
