The weather has warmed a bit these last few days, but I am sure most of us, especially the farmers, would trade the moderate temperatures for a few days of soaking moisture. One of these days those gray clouds might turn into precipitation. Maybe someone ought to put that on their Christmas list and put out an extra jug of milk for the big guy. The Albin Elementary School put on a lovely concert Thursday evening. All the students were shined up in their Christmas best singing and dancing. Jack...

The wind blew and blew and then froze everything until it couldn’t blow anymore. Albin and surrounding residents welcomed 25 degree weather after the cold front finally moved on. Tonight the students entertain parents and guests with their Christmas concert. Remember if you are looking for Christmas gifts that help as well as cheer, buy gift cards from the Albin school. They have a wide selection of stores, and it doe...

It is almost the first of December and our little town is starting to bring out the Christmas twinkle. I haven't noticed the holiday decorations on the streets yet, but I am sure they will be out soon, possibly before this paper reaches you. A light ice storm drenched the streets Monday morning making everyone thankful for the ice scrapers to scrape off the frozen variety of twinkle. The school Christmas concert will be Thursday, Dec. 13. Santa Claus will be there with time and goodies for the kids. So, bring the entire family to hear our...

A few residents of Albin have reported some strange incidents. They noticed a man looking into neighbors windows and walking around on people’s property. Be a good neighbor, and watch out for anything that you think is suspicious. It takes a community to raise a child, and it takes that same community to keep its residents safe and secure. A safe town is a happy town. Albin Elementary school had their thanksgiving lunch Thursday. The lunchroom was decorated in fall colors for the occasion. Mrs. Duffy entertained the diners while they waited t...

The season will change soon enough to meet the winter time we are now on, so be sure to clean your heat filters and check your propane levels. Or maybe get a load of wood by the back door to feed the roaring fire during the cold nights of November. The Albin Community Thanksgiving Dinner and Praise Service will be at Albin Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 11 after the morning service. Albin enjoyed a soft dusting of the cold white stuff this past week. But as with snow this time of year, it was gone before the kids could get a no-school call, and the lawns greened up again for a few more weeks of fall. In the coming weeks, the snow will cause more travel problems and stay longer. So, we ought to enjoy the brief glimpse into our winter future. The Halloween carnival and chili cook-off was a spook of a good time. Many costumed ghouls and princesses showed up to be judged as the finest and scariest in the land. A few pumpkins g...
