While women comprise nearly one-fourth of the Department of Defense's total force, only a small fraction of women serve on submarines. She won the extra heavy weight class with her lamb purchased from Lee Club Lambs of Baggs, WY. Derner was also the Reserve Champion Senior Lamb Showman. He took the oath on February 26, 2016 and shipped out to Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. on August 22, 2016. Kelby is currently in 10-week Basic Combat Training as an infantryman.
