Concern over truck parking was a topic of the Tuesday evening town council meeting this week as a resident addressed the possibility of introducing an ordinance to better regulate semi truck parking within town limits. Lois Ornelas passed away January 16, 2020. She was born on January 25, 1936 in Julesburg, Colorado to Ralph Armstrong and Velma (Dalton) Armstrong. Lois lived in Julesburg until the age of six and then moved to Pine Bluffs, Wyoming with her grandparents. She married Harry Ornelas April 25, 1953 in Pine Bluffs and for the next seventeen years they lived at many different Air Force bases around the country. Sisters Judy Brayton and Joyce Hopkins were born ten months apart and when they were young, their parents split. Brayton remained in Wyoming, while sister Joyce moved away to Norfolk, Virginia. The Burns Lady Broncs were able to pull out a win this weekend with a 34-26 win over the Buffalo Bison. Sophomore Rylee Jo Ward dominated the court with a total of 15 points for the game. The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets walloped the Southeast Cyclones on Friday with a final score of 24/17. Jaden Shelite (14) dominated the court with 12 points for the game. Coach Forbes was impressed with the way that Dylan Sweeter (44) and Shelby Thurin were able to hustle the ball. “Dylan Sweeter had 13 rebounds and 7 points. While the Southeast Cyclones came out strong, by the end of the first quarter the Hornets had tied the game 14/14. The second saw a back and forth scoring effort, but by the end of the second the Hornets had pulled out a six point lead. The Cyclones fought hard, however, and this was not an easy win for the Hornets. By the buzzer the Cyclones just couldn’t manage that final point and the Hornets took the 60/59 win. The theme for the fourth annual Women's March was "Women Rising". A platform for women to talk about the issues that they face including, but not limited to: reproductive rights, women's issues, LGBTQ rights, and as a first, Native American rights.
