Burns eighth grader Katie Norris, daughter of Titus and Charlotte Norris, is stepping up when it comes to spelling words. She tied for first place at the regional spelling bee competition. “I put the ‘e’ before the ‘l’ when I spelled wentletrap, but I know how to spell it now,” smiled Norris. “The only other word I got wrong was ‘irizar’ which I’m still not sure of.” Norris found her niche in spelling bees. Pine Bluffs maintenance leveled the old bathroom and pavilion at City Park Monday. The town council agreed to place a new bathroom and shelter at the park as part of one of the many rehabilitation projects beginning around town. The contractor told the council the park has a “soft completion date” of July 4, but some areas might be roped off with new sod after that date.... Full story
The Pine Bluffs Hornets are heading into the post-season high on three solid road victories last week. On Tuesday, the team headed to Guernsey to play a make-up game. The final score was 81-75 Hornets. Friday night’s contest with Southeast also saw the Pine Bluffs boys come home with a V, after topping their host 59-41. A make-up game against Wright turned out right for the Burns Broncs last week. Traveling to the Panthers den on Monday, the Broncs put out a strong effort to bring home a 57-47 win.
