  • Moose on the loose

    Jimmie Earls|Feb 25, 2016

This moose was spotted by several residents last Thursday in Pine Bluffs. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department advises residents that moose can be potentially dangerous and to be especially watchful during times of low light as moose can be difficult to see at night. Also, never crowd an animal or surround it and always allow an animal an easy escape route. Always control pets while walking them and make sure there are no wildlife around before letting animals out of the house and to view and...

    Bill Sniffin|Feb 25, 2016

The political fates of our nation and of Wyoming are being decided right now across the country through a series of presidential primaries, debates and caucuses. Here in Wyoming, we are merely observers. Or are we? I was recently in Nevada, one of the battleground states, and got to follow some of the national candidates and make some observations on the national scene. On the Democratic side, I always assumed Hillary Clinton would be our next president. She is not my choice but with all the...

12 Years Ago February 27, 1941 Would eradicate snakes by using blasting powder People living in the Goodstreak community north of Bayard, Neb. have suggested that their county commissioners set up a fund for the eradication of rattlesnakes. The plan is to purchase a quantity of blasting powder or dynamite and get an experienced “blaster” to make the rounds of sections known to contain many dens in the spring, killing the “rattlers” before they leave their habitats and scatter. Last year, one man killed over 500 at one place and the snakes...
