    A new coffee shop is coming to town. The Burns council met on February 28 at 5:30 p.m. The cleaning contract with Don and Mary Ackatz was needing to be looked at with more activities going on in the gym. The Ackatz’s were concerned about their once-a-week cleaning. They have done extra before the weekends. The Burns Council expressed that the Ackatz’s have done a great job with cleaning.     The 6th grade class of Carpenter Elementary School used the Engineering Design Process to construct egg cars! They had to have a car that would drive straight for 2 meters. They had a budget and limited amount of supplies to use for their designs. The cars also had to protect the shell of an egg on impact at the end of the two meters!     Lois M. Birt, 83, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022. She was born July 24, 1938, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the daughter of Dale and Agnes (Gillett) Nicodemus. She graduated from Hillsdale (WY) High School and attended Washburn University. Lois was employed by Shaw, Hergenreter, Quarnstrom and Kocher for over 40 years.     The Burns/Pine Bluffs wrestling team attended the state championship competition in Casper, Wyoming. Congratulations to all the wrestlers who competed.     In the last game before the regionals the Burns Broncs took on the Wheatland Bulldogs. The Bulldogs now sitting at 7-14 looked to be a good team to work out the rest of the kinks in the Broncs program before regionals.     The Indoor Burns/Pine Bluffs track team competed on the 25th at the Last Chance qualifier in Laramie. The team did very well and some secured their trip to State. Emma Gonzalez continues to place high in the long distance like the 800m run. The boys sprint medley relay team and girls 4x800 relay teams placed 2nd in their events.
