Pine Bluffs Town Council members Monday night awarded a bid to a Cheyenne Wyoming contractor to install a parking lot a driveway and parking lot at the Windows on the Past Interpretive center. STC construction will pour 480 square yards of asphalt at the facility for about $109,000. Pine Bluffs High School lost one of its own Sunday night. Senior Destiny Marin was traveling as a passenger in a vehicle when it ran off of County Road 212 and rolled several times. According to a press release from the Laramie County Sheriff's Department, 21-year-old Lane Carter was driving the vehicle. Excessive speed is being investigated as a possible cause. A 90-foot mural depicting major landmarks and monuments will be added to Veterans Plaza in Pine Bluffs next month. “American The Beautiful” was designed for the north wall of the Pine Bluffs Veterans Memorial and Community Plaza. It will depict landmarks from New York to Hawaii said Pine Bluffs resident Larry Silvey, who designed the mural. The Veterans Memorial and Community Plaza was constructed and dedicated in 2016. The Wyoming State Fair will only last four days this year, a reduction by half from the traditional eight days. “The condensed schedule will increase daily activity on the grounds for the duration of the fair while shortening the time away from home for families, vendors, and young people who participate in the fair,” James Goodrich, Director of the Wyoming State Fair said in a press release. CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Urban Forestry Division, along with local arborists, are observing an uptick in the number of dead and dying spruce trees in Cheyenne as a result of the spruce ips beetle. This beetle was first identified in Cheyenne about a year and a half ago, and appears to be building in population.
