    Farmers State Bank of Burns started in the banking business May 5, 1919. There were 32 stockholders that incorporated the bank. According to Andrew L. Kendig, Cashier, he had to ride from Torrington in a snow storm and trade horses at Horse Creek in order to reach Burns to open the bank. Mr. Kendig operated the bank until about 1930 when he left to run the Federal Land Company which was the forerunner of the Federal Land Banks. Mace was selected to play in France at the 75th Commemoration of Raid of August 19, 1942 with other bagpipers. She was the only American selected.
