Jimmie Earls, Pine Bluffs Post Editor|Apr 13, 2017

Two Pine Bluffs families were left homeless following a fire that broke out in the early hours of Sunday, April 9. At approximately 1:35 a.m., firefighters from Laramie County Fire District #5 were dispatched to 1279 North Main St. in the Pine View Mobile Home Park after a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival of the first responding crews, two outbuildings were fully involved in fire. The fire had also already spread to two mobile homes and a third non-mobile home was also threatened. • Tell me again, how do people stay together and be married so long?

    Bill Sniffin|Apr 13, 2017

My recent column about couples celebrating long marriages sure generated a lot of comments. I thought these were wonderful. Here goes: “My folks, who were married 45 years when my mom passed away, always said that ‘date nights’ were important. Date nights didn’t include kids, just time away from home doing something they enjoyed together. My mom always said ‘surprise’ date nights were the best,” recalled Leslie Blythe of Casper. Diana Schutte Dowling, formerly of Greybull, recalled that...

  • Anti-faith bias making it harder for some children to get help

    Sen. Mike Enzi|Apr 13, 2017

Faith-based providers and individuals helping children should not be prevented from providing welfare services because of their religious faith, according to U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., and Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa. The lawmakers say some people in positions of power are essentially discriminating against people of faith and seeking to force providers out of these services because of the providers’ beliefs. • Albin News

Here comes Peter Cottontail, hoping down the bunny trail. Easter is on its way. That should mean the tulips and other bulb flowers will color our town shortly. But with all the sugar and chocolate consumed in the next week, none of us may care what colors we see. Or perhaps, even if the wind blows the bulbs back to Holland. Kicking or should we say hoping off the Easter weekend is the Albin Community Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m. There will be five age divisions along with conce...

  • Local artist's work goes from the campground to the lobby

    Gary Collins, Pine Bluffs Post|Apr 13, 2017

Tucked away in a RV park east of Cheyenne and the TA Truck Stop are two antelopes reposing at the bottom of a swimming pool at the WYO Campground. As antelope are neither fish nor aquatic fowl, the curious traveler may indeed wonder how two of the beasts had come to be there. Not surprisingly, they will soon discover their presence is the result of art, not nature. They are the work of artist Marcia Pavlica, who along with her husband Mike, is the owner of the campground. Pavlica stated that it...

Authors across the school district have written pieces of poetry, fiction and nonfiction in a hope of representing the district against the other districts of the state in the Young Authors Competition. Once the pieces were written, all the children's names were removed in order to make the judging as impartial as possible. The pieces are then judged by teachers in their school of grades different than the authors. For example, pieces written by first graders are judged by, teachers from the...

  • A trip back in time

    Gary Collins, Pine Bluffs Post|Apr 13, 2017

Last Friday crews tasked with the work of removing dying trees in Pine Bluffs and planting new ones as part of the town's reforestation project unearthed a time capsule in Reher Park. The capsule appeared as Mitch Reisdorfer and Chris Walstone, of Cheyenne Lawn and Tree Care, were in the process of pushing over the tree just to the west of the marker which, in 1969, dedicated the park in honor of Virgil V. Reher, who served Pine Bluffs as a councilman and mayor from 1961-68. The capsule, buried...
