  • Champs!

Jimmie Earls, Pine Bluffs Post Editor|Nov 17, 2016

In a quote attributed to legendary University of Alabama football coach, the late Paul "Bear" Bryant, "Offense seels tickets, but defense wins championships." If you attended the Wyoming 1A state title game last Saturday in Laramie, then you know there's a lot of weight to that quote. In what can only be described as a battle of defense, the Hornets were able to edge the Tongue River Eagles 10-7 to take state for the first time in the school's history. A feat not lost on head coach Will Gray....

  • Welcome to Donald Trump Country; New president offers economic hope

    Bill Sniffin|Nov 17, 2016

Wyoming got good economic news early Wednesday morning with the national election of Donald Trump as president and Liz Cheney as our new U. S. Representative. Sometimes when you live out here on the frontier, you could assume that what happens in a presidential election probably would not have much impact on your small-populated rural state. Not so. For example, the two candidates for President in the Nov. 8 election had strikingly different plans concerning some big ideas for a state like...

    Becky Christofferson, Pine Bluffs Post|Nov 17, 2016

In what most remember being the music room at the old Burns Elementary school, now thrives as the only place in Burns to grab a bite to eat. About two months ago, Jodee and Mark Zitek opened up the Burns Café after closing the doors on their café in Hereford in January of 2015. "When we heard that it was available, I thought to myself, I have got to try this. So we jumped in and it's been excellent," Jodee explained. "The support we have gotten has been just great." • Fireproof your holiday feasts

    AAA MountainWest|Nov 17, 2016

Food is a big part of holiday fun, but festivities can take your attention away from cooking and lead to fires. Cooking caused half of residential building fires in 2014, according to the U.S. Fire Administration. More cooking fires occur on Thanksgiving than any other day of the year. In fact, the National Fire Protection Association reports that three times as many home fires occur on that holiday compared with the average day, with Christmas Day and Christmas Eve not far behind. “Holiday decorations and candles can also be fire hazards, bu...

  • Banner County News

    Barb Cross|Nov 17, 2016

Good morning! We are in the final countdown of days before Thanksgiving. It seems more like Easter with the weather we have been having, actually I think it has been warmer than some of our Easters over the past few years. Sunday and Monday, November 13 and 14, were the evenings of the “Super Blue Moon”, which happens once every 68 years. The moon is “super” because it is as close to the earth as it will be for another 68 years, and we are lucky to live during a time when we can see it....

  • Albin News

    Charlene Smith|Nov 17, 2016

With all the happenings around the world last week, Albin stayed on the straight and narrow. Like an old farm dog who peeks up from his nap to watch the feral cat get himself in trouble with the rabid skunk. We are no less interested than the pot stirrers who want to make everything about fear and hate. Except we prefer, like the farm dog, to sit on the porch, do what is asked of us and protect our loved ones in time of need. No matter which way you voted, or what you think may happen, Albin wil...

    Becky Christofferson, Pine Bluffs Post|Nov 17, 2016

Just four years ago, the Blessed Hope Baptist Church opened its doors in the Burns Plex on Main Street in Burns, using a small (dimension) room for its congregation, a fellowship area as well as the pastor’s office. The church has had to move three times throughout the building, to make sure there is enough room for services and activities. In those four years, the church has seen immense growth as it now occupies six rooms, with two of those being constructed by the church itself. According to Blessed Hope Baptist Church Pastor Nathaniel...

    Becky Christofferson, Pine Bluffs Post|Nov 17, 2016

Being a first-year swimmer for the Cheyenne South High School Swim Team didn't stop Burns High School (BHS) student Jakobi Mirich from becoming a contender in the 4A class swim division this year, nor did it stop her from qualifying for the state meet held in October. "Jakobi is a tremendous person. She contributed to our team in so many ways inside and outside the pool,"South High School Swim Coach Jason Garman said. "Even though she is only a freshman, she brought a lot of maturity to our...
