Evelyn Marie (Johnson) Stephens was born on a homestead near Dix, Neb., on February 24, 1917, to Lambert and Tensia (Bengtson) Johnson. The family moved to Wheatland in 1920. Evelyn graduated from Wheatland, Wyoming High School in 1935. She worked for the Rural Electrification Administration in Wheatland, transferring to the Pine Bluffs office in 1941. Pine Bluffs Police Department officially has three officers after Robert Armstrong was sworn in last Wednesday at the Pine Bluffs court room. Cole Jackson of Hillsdale has been selected to the 2013 sub-junior (ages 14 and under) All-American trapshooting team. The Amateur Trapshooting Association determines the teams. More than 100 years old, trapshooting is a competitive sport of shooting at clay targets with a shotgun. This is the second time Jackson has been named an All-American. Four Neighbors Day started early for some, as the Burns Volunteer Fire Department offered up a free pancake breakfast at their firehall Saturday morning. The Albin Baptist Church hosted their vacation bible school this week. The hungry youngsters were well fed with Bible verses, songs, fun and of course food.
