New signs are coming to Burns. The Burns council met on July 11th at 6:30 p.m. for their regular meeting. Shepherd's Closet thanked the council for the rooms in the South Burns Plex. After over 10 years of being a minister, Pastor Gale Graves has retired. She started in the Hillsdale Methodist Church then moved to the Carpenter Methodist Church until they closed the church. The clippers were sharp and the clean clothes were ready. Crossroads Community Church was doing the Make A Difference Day on June 25th that is an all day event. This started last year. The Church realized the people in town needed help. They had some that called in and filled out a paper out on what they needed done. This year they had eight places to work on for others in town. One of our local high school alumni achieved one of her goals in May by competing in a national level track meet. Jourdaine Cerenil, a 2020 graduate of Pine Bluffs High School and member of the Hornets track and field team competed in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Allendale, Mich. Luck was being thrown around on Albin day. July 9th at 4:30 p.m. the Annual Horseshoe Tournament took place. The horseshoe pits were filled by five teams playing for the honor of being called the best "horseshoesmen" in town. Each player on the team is at opposite pits with another team. The bean bags were flying across the tundra during The Second Annual Cornhole Tournament at 4:30 p.m. on July 9th at Albin Day. This year the adults and the kids had separate brackets. A while back we wrote about a group of students from Burns High School that wanted to participate in a trap and skeet shooting team. Bryce Humphrey, Kody Foley and Madison Foley found a team in Cheyenne.
