It's back for the second year in a row. Bushnell Days was August 20th for the whole day. The parade started at 10:00 a.m. with the Donald Eisenhauser American Legion Post # 60 as the color guard. An update on the Master Plan was held on August 10th at 5:30 p.m. at the Pine Bluffs Community Center. A short presentation was given by the committee on the last stages of the Master Plan. Right now, they are fine tuning it with the help of this meeting and online input. In the back were boards of what their goals are in different areas. It was the last meeting for council member Jeff Appleman. The Burns Town council met on August 22nd at 5:30 p.m. It was a short meeting. First was the approval of vouchers. Council member Judy Johnstone made a motion to approve and council member Dennis Bastian seconded it. All approved. Mayor Jim Clark reported there are a few different people in town. Where has the summer gone? It seems like I just planted a few weeks ago and now it's the end of August and harvest is just around the corner. I've been harvesting tomatoes and peppers for the last month. Cabbage is ready now and the squash and potatoes are only a few weeks out. In fact, I'll probably dig one potato plant in the next week or so to see how they're coming along. Right now I'm looking at starting to harvest them in late September but we'll see. The Laramie County Roping Association held its annual team roping competition over the 20th and 21st of August. The annual event is highly anticipated by the roping community and very well attended. A young Arnold Palmer is developing here in Pine Bluffs. Tayten Zitek loves to golf. Unfortunately, neither Pine Bluffs nor Burns has a golf team. Young Zitek now golfs with the Cheyenne East High School golf team. And he is doing well. Over the weekend of August 11th and 12th Zitek competed in the Wheatland Invitational tournament in Wheatland, Wyoming. It was a two-day tournament that Zitek took second place in. The boards were lined up and the bean bags were set and ready to be tossed. At Bushnell Days in the afternoon the cornhole tournament was underway. Eighteen teams competed in a double elimination bracket. Some of the teams had never played in a tournament before but were having fun. The competitors were challenging each other. The end of the Hell on Wheels Rodeo season is coming soon. The contestants have been working hard to get the best scores in the shortest times to earn the points and the money to win the series. The boards were set up and bean bags were laid down. On Sunday August 7th was the Second Annual Connor Graves-Tyler Morgan Cornhole Tournament. This tournament was set-up to honor Connor Graves that died from a bad accident. She grew up in the Pine Bluffs area and was very active throughout the community.
