Laramie Police have made an arrest in a murder that happened more than 40 years ago. Authorities announced Friday night that 61-year-old Lance David Bean has been arrested for the murder of Sharon Reher in 1972. Police have not said what led them to Bean and further DNA testing will be done. Reher’s relatives have been notified of the arrest. Reher was found strangled with her throat slit in her home in April 1972. Reher had moved from Pine Bluffs to Laramie and was working as a bookkeeper. Performance results on the ACT for the 2014 graduating class were released today by the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) and the ACT. Statewide, the average composite score for the graduating class of 2014 rose from a year ago, increasing from 19.8 in 2013 to 20.1 in 2014. This increase is noteworthy because more Wyoming students than ever are participating in the ACT – over 6,000 students in 2014 – since the ACT is required for state and federal accountability in grade 11. Ivan Moyer, 88, of Bella Vista, AR, went to be with his Lord on August 18, 2014. Born Oct. 29, 1925 in Pine Bluffs to Andrew and Ruth Moyer, he grew up on the family farm, and then at 18 joined the US Navy, assigned to the USS Enterprise. He met his wife, Betty Osborne, while serving as a missionary throughout the Northern U.S. and Canada. They were married on April 15, 1955 in Denver. If you have been on Facebook lately, then you have heard of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. On Friday, Aug. 22 the Pine Bluffs High School teachers with the help of the PBHS Student Council Officers issued the challenge to the Pine Bluffs Elementary to take the plunge. Secretary of State Max Maxfield released preliminary information on voter turnout in yesterday’s primary election. “Based on unofficial results from the county clerks, voter turnout for the primary election was 46 percent of those registered to vote,” Secretary Maxfield said.
