  • Darn those Political ads

    Mike Heath|Oct 22, 2020

‘Tis the season. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting really tired of all the political ads on TV lately. I’m pretty active politically and maybe that’s part of my problem. I’ve been getting between 40-50 emails and text messages every day from candidates around the country wanting me to contribute to their campaign for the last several months. Some I have contributed to in the past and most, I’m sure, purchased my phone number and email address. I encourage everyone to be politically active, but enough is enough already....

  • Windbreaks and Snow Fences

Mike Heath Laramie County Master Gardners|Oct 22, 2020

A few weeks ago Linda was rummaging through some boxes and came across a small book, "Hedges, Windbreaks, Shelters and Live Fences", by E. P. Powell. It's a very small book, only about a half inch thick, but full of interesting information. What I found most interesting was the copyright date, 1900, even though the book covered the period 1859 - 1899. It was a pretty quick read overall, even though the writing style of the author caused me to have to go back and reread several portions to...

  • XC and the Pine/Burns Eastern Regional Meet

    A Rousseau|Oct 22, 2020

(Told by Coaches Ashley Rousseau, Cole Manlove, and Ashley Thurin) We had a cold day for the 3A Eastern Regional Meet--the high was only 45, which in Wyoming can feel actually like 45 or could feel like 5. We all packed layers and blankets too. Wyoming wind--always the variable--but today it was a freak snow squall while we were out walking the course that soaked us to the bone and we had to wait it out.
