Pawnee Coyote gridiron win bittersweet


The Pawnee Coyotes notched a victory Friday night, but the effort was not without some pain on both sides of the field. Taking the field against the Arickaree Indians, the Coyotes outscored their opponent 65-32. Both both teams also lost.

“It was another bittersweet win,” said Coyotes’ coach Doug Miller. “Zeb Durst ended up breaking his tibia.”

That happened in the third quarter.

“Actually, it was like nothing I’d seen in my coaching career,” Miller continued. “The quarter before that, an Arickaree kid broke his leg in the same place. I felt sick for that kid and then Zeb...
