The joy of reading and cooking come to Burns

Two Burns High School teachers combined efforts to create a co-curricular class for their students. Stephanie Keigley’s Culinary 1 and 2 classes prepared an Asian meal for Deb Nolting’s World Literature students, who had just finished reading “The Joy Luck Club” by Amy Tan.

Keigley’s classes cut and marinated the meat and Nolting’s class joined Keigley’s group in the kitchen, where the final preparations were made.

Almost 30 students worked together in the school kitchen to cook up sesame chicken, wonton soup, and beef and veggies with oyster sauce.
