Delta Kappa Gamma (Upsilon Chapter) 30h Annual Book Sale

Members of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society of women in education, will collect books beginning Feb 1 for their 30th annual Used Book Sale. Collection will end on Feb 24.

Collection boxes are located at all Cheyenne grocery stores including the Natural Grocers and Wal-Mart, and the CRMC Health and Fitness at 1620 E. Pershing.

If you are not able to deliver your books, call 369-2940, or 632-0209. (Please leave a message.) DKG will pick up large quantities within a 10-mile radius of Cheyenne.

Books on tape or CD, DVD’s, videos, games, puzzles, and newer textbooks are also appreciated.

Old encyclopedias do not sell well. Please recycle them elsewhere.

The sale will be in the former Dinneen Buick-Pontiac Building on the corner of Pioneer Ave. and 18th St. (405 West 18th) on the first weekend in March.  Hours are 8a.m. to 6p.m. on Sat Mar 2, and 9a.m. to 4p.m. on Sun, Mar 3.

Unsold books will be donated to community organizations. Call 634-6066 if you are interested in receiving leftover books.

Proceeds provide scholarships for college students planning careers in education and professional development grants to current educators.

Upsilon Chapter of DKG has awarded numerous individual scholarships. In 2007, members fulfilled a $50,000 pledge to the University of Wyoming that the Legislature matched for a $100,000 scholarship endowment.

In 2009, the group completed a $50,000 pledge to Laramie County Community College that has created a $100,000 endowment there.

Proceeds from the past three years have been given to support educational programs in the Children’s Village at the Cheyenne Botanic Garden.
