For the special this week at the Hereford Community Church Shirley Hall played “The Palms” on the organ. Pastor Opdycke told about Palm Sunday by referring to the palm of your hand. Each person’s palm print is unique. Just like fingerprints, palm prints can be used for identification. She pointed out that Jesus worked with his hands. He did miracles with his hands.

The sermon topic for the day was “Two Witnesses.” The first witness she spoke about was Simon from Cyrene who was chosen to carry the cross for Jesus. That experience changed his life and Simon and his wife and family become believers in Jesus. The second witness was the Roman soldier at the foot of the cross. After seeing Jesus die and hearing Jesus forgive those who crucified him, this Roman soldier also believed that Jesus was the Son of God.

Next week is Easter and the sermon topic will be “In Christ Alone.” The church will have a sunrise service at 6 a.m. followed by breakfast of donuts, rolls, juice, and coffee. The Prairie Songbirds will sing at the service.

Coming up on April 7, Holy Communion will be served. Then on April 14 the church will hold their quarterly business meeting at 10 a.m. before the regular worship service.
