This time weather forecasters were right — as promised Winter Storm Walda forced itself on the area Monday night, turning much needed rain into inches of snow. Half a foot of snow was on the ground by Tuesday morning with more falling throughout the day. Blizzard winds closed I-80 from Sidney, Neb., to Rawlins. Tuesday morning 465 flights heading out of Denver were cancelled.
