A race in Australia starts in a bowling alley

Burns sophomore Ashley Turner was given something better than new spikes recently. After being selected to compete in the highly selective national competition, Down Under in Australia, Ashley set out to find sponsors for the trip.

After raising $2,900 on her own, Turner started a 50/50 raffle at the bowling alley where her dad competes in leagues action.

One of the bowlers purchased $100 in raffle tickets and ended up winning the raffle.

“He gave me back the money he won and told me to let him know in March or April how I was doing,” Turner said.
