This year is almost half over, can you believe it? I sure cannot.

Many folks have been out with flu like symptoms, and some have pneumonia. Odd for this time of year, and never any fun.

Everyone is busy this week with track meets and graduations. The junior high team is in Chappell today for the Leyton tournament and they will travel to Chappell once again Tuesday, May 7, for the Harlon Sutton invite. Both meets begin at 8:30 a.m. The varsity track teams will travel this Friday, May 3, to Sidney for the Cheyenne County invite and district track is next Wednesday, May 8, also at Sidney. Good luck at each of these events and safe travel.

On Thursday, May 2, the kindergarten class of 2025 will be receiving diplomas in the big gym at 1:30 p.m. everyone is invited to attend this special occasion.

On Friday, May 3, the eighth grade, class of 2017 will hold their ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. Other activities are planned for them until 10 p.m.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on May 3, the high school will be involved in the activities banquet at the Gering Civic Center. The banquet will begin at 7 p.m. and the awards presentation will follow at 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend the awards portion of the evening.

Monday, May 6, the calendar is blank … makes me wonder what I am forgetting!

LATE start for students Tuesday May 7; this is the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast.

On Wednesday, May 8, the Banner County School fourth and fifth grade students will enjoy Ag Day. Safe travel on this one also.

The big gym will be closed off to all traffic on May 8 and 9, due to the upcoming spring concert. The concert will include the fourth through twelfth grades and is sure to be a good one. Everyone is invited and if you are able please come and support these young people. It will be on Thursday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m.

Birthdays this week include: Kurt Baker, Jim Neal, Joe Cross, Joan Sundin, Crissy Olsen, Leeigh McGowan, Rachel Parker, Charline Brown, Brad Cross, Ryan May, Chet Cochran, Casey Adrian, Gregg Wurdeman, Carissa Cooper, Connor Cochran, Jacob Knaub, and Jeri Revelle. Happy birthday!

One anniversary couple and that is Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bolin, congratulations you two!

The Kimball Community Hospital will be holding their annual Health Fair Thursday, May 5, from 7 to 11 a.m. The general cost is $30, a full blood work is $32 and various other tests are available. This is brought to you in cooperation with Wyoming Health Fairs.

Well, not a lot of news this week. Everyone is so busy and also enjoying the good weather when we have it or appreciating the moisture when we get it.

I hate to see any business down size or worse yet close their doors. However I was at one such auction recently and was lucky enough to acquire some really good plants and bushes.
