Diamond in the rough


A few years back I was working as the manager/head cook of an Italian restaurant. I was working long hours, six days a week and was miserable.

I took the job because I couldn’t find anything else. I had been out of work for several months and needed something. I did well enough, especially considering I had no formal training. But it didn’t change the fact that I wasn’t happy.

But, the truth of the matter is, without that job I wouldn’t be where I am today.

One of my regular customers was the publisher/owner of the local newspaper. For whatever reason he saw a glimmer of potentia...
