Banner News

The big news around here is school. Several track meets that had been cancelled due to snow were re-scheduled, plus district track. Amanda Harrision and David Gifford placed well at district and will be headed to Omaha for state competition this Friday, congratulations!

Last Thursday, the fourth through twelfth grade students in choir and band performed during their annual spring concert. It was very enjoyable, thank-you students and to instructor, Mrs. Woundedarrow.

I do not have any skivvy on the first grade field trip, but since we have a fourth grader at our house I have heard quite a lot about that one, and have seen some awesome pictures. The kids went to Chimney Rock and rode in a covered wagon, plus walking up close to the rock itself, and on the original Oregon Trail. Thank you Mr. Jackson.

Sunday was senior graduation for the Banner County class of 2013. For me each class can be described in one or two words upon graduation and for this one it would be (sad) to see them go, and (excited) about the next steps they will take.

Monday was the big day for the elementary students. It started off with a kindergarten through sixth grade Title Parent’s meeting in the gym, kindergarten through fifth grade spring musical at 9 a.m., and was followed immediately by Patron’s Day at 9:45. WOW.

School will dismiss at 12:20 p.m. on Friday and resume in August, which seems like a long way off, but we know it will fly by and be here before we know it. In my case, I will not be ready! So school is out for the summer, no more books, and no more teachers’ dirty looks!

The Central-Banner 4-H Club will have their regular meeting on Sunday, May 19, in the school cafeteria at 4:30 p.m. The sewing club will meet one hour prior to that.

Birthdays this week include: Stephanie Cooper, Brandon Stoddard, Erika Cochran, Brett Farro, Tim Gifford, and Trent Davis. Happy birthday!

Anniversary congratulations go out to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Engleman, Nathan Dolberg, Richard Person, and Chris Cooper.

We heard about an accident that Kenny Stauffer recently had involving a horse and as far as I know he is still hospitalized. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Well, this is short and sweet this week and may be so since school is out, so please contact me with YOUR news, thanks and have a great week. Until next time take care and contact me at 436-7152, 641-1335- or write to Barb Cross (Mrs. Rod)
