Kyle Foxs’ interpreter “signs” the start gun for him at the Chappell Invitational track meet in April. Kyle is 95 percent deaf in both ears and uses his interpreter to succeed in school as well as athletics. Kyle and the rest of the 4x800 relay team will compete at state this week.

On a spring morning, when Burns high was abuzz with chatter about the regional track meet, a special announcement came across the airways of an all-school assembly Thursday morning.

As track team members high-fived and knuckled each other as they walked into the gym, the level of respect and honor for the school and team would rise even higher as one of their own received a highly selective national award.
