Evelyn Stephens

Evelyn Marie (Johnson) Stephens was born on a homestead near Dix, Neb., on February 24, 1917, to Lambert and Tensia (Bengtson) Johnson. The family moved to Wheatland in 1920.

Evelyn graduated from Wheatland, Wyoming High School in 1935. She worked for the Rural Electrification Administration in Wheatland, transferring to the Pine Bluffs office in 1941.

She married Neil Stephens on Nov. 25, 1943, at her parents’ home in Wheatland. She and her husband farmed southwest of Pine Bluffs for 24 years, moving to Longmont, Colo., in 1968 and to Loveland, Colo., in 1983.
