Pine Bluffs melodrama players ready to entertain

Once again the thespians of Pine Bluffs will be staging an old-fashioned melodrama for Trail Days, complete with olio acts and audience participation. A cast of five will take the stage for “Unhand Her, You Villian” on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

On their way to Wyoming to see what has happened to their father/husband’s holdings, Perdita Glob (played by Sarah Coverdale) and Widow Glob (played by Kristina Steger) search for answers regarding their father/husband’s disappearance. Bret Steger’s Squire Rancid knows the answers and cub reporter Henry “HL” Mencken (portrayed by Jordan Crouse) is close to discovering the truth. Kelsey Bowman’s Agnes Rose also holds clues as the mother and daughter run into corruption and greed on the way to the truth.

Bowman is joined on stage by Jaclyn Davison and Kami Schaefer as the always entertaining cancan girls in this production directed by Matt Hockersmith and Breana Bowman. Dances were choreographed by Cristi Freeman and piano accompaniment is provided by Joleen Marquardt. Dean Bowman is in charge of the set.

A change of venue to the stage in the Historic Pine Bluffs High School gym provides plenty of room for the audience. There is no pre-sale of tickets this year. Entry at the door is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Pre-schoolers are free. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
