Lady Coyotes off to a winning start

Facing Merino and Briggsdale in the opening contests of the 2013 volleyball season, the Pawnee Lady Coyotes set the standard for the next few months. On Thursday, the Ladies from Pawnee defeated Merino in four sets at home. On the road Friday, Pawnee put away Briggsdale in three sets.

The Merino Lady Rams came out weak in the first set on Thursday losing 10-25 to Pawnee. They came out stronger in the second set, winning 25-22. In the third set Pawnee won 25-17 and held on in a tight fourth set to win 25-23.

Afton Zitek started her season off with nine kills and three aces.
