Student of the week

Layne Burnett, a fifth grader at Carpenter elementary, is a "fabulous student," according to her teacher Craig Williams.

Layne likes to read and write, but is unsure which one she likes better.

"I read the Hunger Games but I haven't seen the movies," Layne explained. "Now I am reading a series about a pioneer family.

Just like her indecision on whether writing or reading is better, Layne is not sure what type of book is the best.

Layne is the daughter of Jeff and Kim Burnett who own the dairy in Carpenter. She has an older sister who is in eighth grade at Burns.
