Enforcing the Christmas spirit: Police, firefighters bring kids on Christmas shopping spree

Three-year-old Dray Briggs looks at a toy admiringly Saturday while holding two others in hopes of buying them. Briggs was able to make the purchase thanks to donations from the Laramie County Fire District 5 Fire Department and the Pine Bluffs Police Department. The donations allowed Briggs and nine other children to go on a $100 shopping spree at K-Mart in Cheyenne.

Police officers and firefighters from Pine Bluffs chauffeured nine children to K-Mart in Cheyenne Saturday with a surprise - a Christmas shopping spree.

"I'm just very happy that I get to be here," said Katlin Butler, while waiting at the Pine Bluffs police station for the vehicles to fire up.

Butler, along with nine other children, was selected to participate in Pine Bluffs' "Shop with a Cop" program. Those who were selected received a $100 K-Mart gift card, a ride to Cheyenne in either a fire engine or a police cruiser and the ability to buy anything they wanted for Christmas.
