For this third week in Advent at the Hereford Community Church, Steve and Jan Hauer and Andrea Reifschneider lit the candles. Then, Steve Hauer sang “Sent By The Father” for the special. Pastor Opdycke read the Christmas story from Luke Chapter 2. Her sermon title was “The Lamb.” She explained much of the symbolism in the scripture.

Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. Bethlehem was the place where the lambs were raised that were used for sacrifice at the temple. Jesus became the sacrificial lamb. And just as those lambs had to be perfect, Jesus was perfect.

Next week there will be two services at the church. For the 11 a.m. morning service the topic will be “O Come, Let Us Adore Him.” Then Sunday evening at 7 p.m. will be the Christmas Candlelight service. The topic will be “The Shining Light.” There will be many specials and treats for everyone.
