Winning experience from a game lost

Burns lost to Gering 56 – 41 in a rough and tough battle on both ends of the court in their last game before breaking for the Christmas holiday, Dec. 20.

The Broncs played a strong game in between the elbows and pushed up and down the home hardwood.

"We were proud of the way the boys came out and competed against a very good Gering team," Head Coach Sean Patterson said. "We did a better job of being aggressive on offense and playing team basketball."

Patterson was happy with the experiences the team gained. He said the Broncs will play against similar defenses later in the season and draw off the time spent against Gering.

Travis Romsa stayed strong in the middle and took all but one of his shots inside the lines. He added 16 points to the effort.

Preston Goehring had a knee injury in football that kept him watching his team from the bench until the Gering game. He was 100 percent on field goals and free throws, scoring 3 points for the Broncs.

"We look forward to improving over Christmas break and are very excited to open conference play at Southeast," Patterson said.

In other Burns Broncs basketball, the JV team fell to Gering and has a record of 3-2. Dec. 16, the Freshmen/Sophomore team lost to Torrington. Their record currently stands at 1-1, with their win coming against Central in their first game of the season.

The Burns Broncs travel to Southeast, Jan. 4 to use the gifts of practice and two weeks off in their first conference game of the New Year.
